Grassroots organizations in defense of our land and natural resources of the regions of the Aguán, Atlantida. Sula Valley, central, south and west of the country, gathered in a national assembly, denounce and repudiate the rigged and illegal process that led to the capture , detention and sentencing of our companero Jose Isabel Morales who is imprisoned unjustly in the central penetenciary of El Porvenir in La Ceiba, Atlantida.
Comrade José Isabel Morales is imprisoned for his involvement in the agrarian struggle in defense of the land. The Honduran State is directly responsible for the conflict in that area because it became an accomplice to landowners who illegally appropriated land where the CREM worked and the land had already been awarded to farmer groups.
The Honduran State is not only mainly responsible for the agrarian conflict, but deliberately has protected the landowners and has manipulated the justice system by taking it out on the peasants who become victims, as in the case of Jose Isabel Morales , executioners and criminals, and presenting the perpetrators, invaders and murderers of farmers, as honorable and victims.
We demand that the Supreme Court should proceed immediately to annul the sentence imposed on our comrade, because it is unjust, unconstitutional and is motivated by strict political interests of revenge by the landowners and those who strive to continue to act as if the Aguán was their own private ranch.
We urge the Supreme Court of Justice to hand down a sentence that declares the immediate release of our comrade José Isabel Morales, while declaring void the arrest warrants against all the companions of the Peasant Movement of Aguán because you can not condemn people for raising their voices and struggling for the defense of the land that rightfully belongs to them.
We invite all popular and fraternal organizations and to find common cause in this struggle for farmers of the Aguán, and particularly in solidarity with our fellow comrade unjustly imprisoned.
Immediate freedom of our colleague José Isabel Morales!
